Pet First Aid & CPR Tips

When something happens, knowing what to do for them matters just as much. Explore Coastal Heart Safety’s free pet first aid and CPR tips library.

    • Lay your pet on their right side

    • Perform 100-120 compressions per minute

    • Compress 1/3-1/2 chest depth

    • Give 2 breathe after every 30

    • Look in the mouth for visible object

    • Small pets: gentte back blows

    • Large dogs: abdominal

    • Cool with running water (not ice)

    • Cover loosely

    • Get veterinary care

    • Watch for chest movement

    • Check heartbeat behind the left elbow

    • If none → begin CPR immediately

    • Apply firm pressure with cloth or gauze

    • Elevate if possible

    • Seek emergency care if

    • Move to shade immediately

    • Cool with water (not ice' )

    • Seek emergency vet
